The Mentor by joansmor

The Mentor

I've mentioned once or twice how I am taking 2 yearlong Scrapping classes. One is more art based and about blending pictures into the paper with soft edges. I am really struggling with this class as I am not very "artsy." But confined to my home today as I am doing colonoscopy prep. So tried one using this picture of my mentor. By the way he took the picture.
Hope procedure goes well, lovely photo

It was quite a shock to fall on this without warning... I think your scrap is quite effective - I just wish my image had been a bit more sympathetic! Well done Joan... and thank you!

Lovely composition on this... great job.

Really really impressive - think this turned out wonderfully. You had a great subject to work with, too. Like the way you composed this - that's where I really fail - creating from nothing - you did it so well. Know you'll be glad when tomorrow is over - the procedure isn't as bad as the prep!

Looks great. Best of luck with your procedure.

Great work Joan, I think you have done a great job. I'm interested to know more about the scrapping class that you are doing. Is it all on line?

Anna Aspne's class is here http://www.annaaspnesdesigns.com/classes/year-artplay-2017/
The other class I am taking is with Digital Scapper. If you go to the link here there are lots of classes on fixing photos also - http://digitalscrapper.com/classes/

My father died with bowel cancer. I have a colonoscopy every 3 years, or is it 5? Need to check, thanks for the reminder. Hope all goes well.

@olivetreeann Digital scrapping is easier and- cleaner. Hoe you made notes of the two links I gave in a comment. Plus an excellent way to learn PS
February 22nd, 2017
@joansmor Yes, I took note, although I don't have PS.

A fun capture and candid portrait of Richard! So well done.

This one took me by surprise... my mind was looking for the connection between you and Richard before I read your comment. No idea how you did this..... I hasten to add that I wouldn't want to know as I'm trying to reduce my computer use. I've already thrown my iPhone at the wall (very therapeutic, completely wrecked it) and the laptop can't be far behind! :-)

@yrhenwr Does it say something about me that I wanted to follow the man in this picture - lol. It's like white milk joining up with a vodka martini. But I will always be grateful to what he taught me. The world opens up to you on 365. By the way every printer at work is currently refusing to work for me no matter which computer I use, Want to talk about frustration.
February 23rd, 2017
@joansmor @yrhenwr Well I'll take the Vodkatini over milk every time but I really prefer a traditional Martini with Gin - preferably Tanqueray - and as dry as you like. Sorry about the printer problems and I haven't forgotten that I owe you a mail on that subject.

@vignouse No hurry the time to do it right now. I am back working a few hours a week at Rufus = only new name Milliken Smith. We still have things to wind up plus the rental property stayed with the family. Think I'll be doing the purchase in about April. Meanwhile got a cheap one HP Envy for my every day printing - like tax returns.
