PRISM-SURF

No pictures today. I got home from work a little later than usual as I stayed to answer the phones so that they could go to lunch together for a special occasion. So I was happy to just sit and play on my computer. I tried this for a class taught by Tiffany Tillman-Emanuel. This is so much more than I was doing before and I can't decide if things look good. So it is my pictures from some of my surfing shots. Please be honest with your assessments.
This is very cool. Great job.

Every creative.

I think it looks great. The only tweak...I might have raised the left-hand surfer up just a bit...so the three of them made a more even triangle. But that's me. (I don't even know how you did that!)

This is just fascinating, Joan.

I don't know how you did it but I like it. Great as a poster.

Beautifully done Joan. Triangles are always dynamic and this is no exception. i think you convey the feeling of exhilaration and speed extremely well. love the warm to cool colours too.. imho, it is very professional looking and would look good as a full page ad or a large poster..

As you know, I always admire your scrapping work and this is up there with the best... but did you miss out the word 'Up' ?
June 10th, 2017
@vignouse 'UP' is in the pretty pink/magenta :-)
June 10th, 2017
@vignouse @jorlam You are absolutely right Jorlam. The instructor did SF for San Francisco and NY for New York. I had to get creative.

This really works well! I like the way you have brought in multiple surfers and used the bold lines to create the feeling of movement among the group. I also think your color choices are effective. Richard's question is a good one -- though I didn't notice that at first.

@taffy Look again in the magenta lines up is there
June 10th, 2017
@joansmor Ah...totally missed it.
June 10th, 2017
I think it's great :)

Sue
Wow, there is some skill in doing that - I wouldn't know where to start
June 10th, 2017
It's caught the essence of the sport in an abstract way, love the colours too.
June 10th, 2017
@joansmor I should have known better....

Looks quite professional...was it used as a poster?

Joan, I am Kathy, your get pushed partner this week. I have looked through your lovely photos and faved many of them. If you still have a cat, I would like you to do a high-key photo of him (her). If you don't have a cat, use a dog or a child, but I would prefer a cat. Okay?
June 10th, 2017
@kathyboyles Ksthy I still have Two, my cat, but she doesn't pose I get pictures on the fly. Can you give me a back up challenge just in case I can't get this one to work. I will look for the opportunity.
June 10th, 2017
@joansmor Joan, if the cat doesn't work, then chose whatever will stand still for the high key photo. Even an object.

I think the processing work is top notch here! But like a couple others I totally did not see the UP in the magenta, so that might be a trouble spot if you were looking for improvement. The numbers are a little confusing to me too- I'm trying to figure out the relationship between them and the surfer. Is it a competition and that's his number? Is it a date (It doesn't make sense for that)? It if was a calendar for surfers- it could be a month name and it would be a hit in the sports shops. Excellent work Joan!

@olivetreeann The numbers are a date - it is the date these pictures were taken truly. Check my January pictures. The best surfing is in the winter in Maine after a big storm blows through. I know you can't always see the UP and on the instructor I defy you to see her SF but then she doesn't tie it into the title either - that may have been a bit of a stretch. When I try again I will keep this in mind. I actually did another one with the instructions for the dark blending modes and it came out pretty good but didn't use the initials to tie into anything. So thank you for the suggestions. Sure if I try this again I will keep all the suggestions in mind.

@joansmor Just looked at the numbers again and yes, now I see the date. I will blame it on the fact that I am battling a cold at the moment! Before I saw the explanation of the UP I just thought it was a striping effect and I really liked it. I still do- I think it's an artistic choice as to whether or not to darken it because some people will see it and some will not no matter what you do. I am now laughing at myself about the date- and I still think it would be a great calendar page!
June 11th, 2017
@olivetreeann I am trying so many new things. Never thought of myself as artsy. Think I'll post the other in my extra..
June 11th, 2017
I think this is great, and far beyond what I could do. I am curious to know is there some relevance to the numbers?
June 14th, 2017
@stephanies The date I took the pictures.
