Breaking the plane by joansmor

Breaking the plane

Wheezie and Howard came for a visit. Took this picture in low light and didn't realize her nose broke the focal plane but she's such a cutie.
She is a cutie.

The eyes really pop though...more important than the nose

'Focal plane'. I suspect this means her nose wasn’t in focus. So what? An animated dog, curious, lovely and lively too...is a joy to behold!

Oh no, there's a focal plane? I have so much to learn but I do know this is a super cute little dog. Amazing eyes

Really cute!

It's not important, her eyes are in sharp focus and that's all that matters!
March 17th, 2018
The eyes are a great focal point, so them being more in focus draws the attention more!

So we are a get-pushed partners this week Joan and here is link I would like you to look at - https://digital-photography-school.com/6-portrait-lighting-patterns-every-photographer-should-know/ Your challenge is to pick at least one of these styles (more if you want) and show me a portrait picture please.

@stephanies I live alone so this would be hard to do and I don't have lights and haven't ever learned to use my speed light, This seems a lot to do. If I had a month I might be able to do this.

Oh sorry Joan, I didn't realise you lived alone... do you have a doll that you could try it out on maybe? The fancy equipment really isn't necessary, I have done this as a challenge and used a simple flash light, here are my pics https://365project.org/stephanies/year-2-2016-201/2017-04-29 & https://365project.org/stephanies/diary/2017-04-29 I know you are interested in working with light and this is an indoor push which is why I choose it for you. If you really don't want to do it then I can give you the word 'mercy' to illustrate pictorially as you wish. :)

@stephanies I place it in front of a window in daytime and use my large flashlight at night

Sure go ahead and use your lightbox for this weeks challenge then, just explore different ways of using it and different light sources.
