They are my great-grandniece who is spending the summer with their mother. They and their sister always have hugs for me when they see me. (Please bear with me using the transgender pronouns is all new to me so if anything needs correcting I am happy to hear).
I did several things in Topaz Studio 2 to try to minimize the background. Think I have popper they out from the background.
The photo is nice and the person does pop out from their background. As you can see my sentence is dodging around the difficulty of not having a gender neutral pronoun. Apparently we didn't have 'he' and 'she' until around the 12th century - perhaps we should have left things as they were! I found your sentence awkward - 'They are' sounded like there should have been someone else, but 'They is' sounds wrong and 'It is' is probably grammatically correct but somewhat derogatory. Can't win. You could have said 'Think I have popped them out from the background' rather than 'they' and (I think) it would have been grammatically correct and gender neutral. In many instances they, them and theirs will be fine, but sometimes they just don't work, but I do applaud you for trying.
This all sounds so weird Joan, fortunately we don't have to use it here. Love the shot of this beautiful young lady. New to me too, is that one can minimize a background ;-)
@ludwigsdiana In Topaz I made a couple of adjustments to get the light right on them and then did a brightness adjustment and a smudge adjustment and masked the effect on them copying one mask to the other adjustment. Been watching some YouTube videos.
A nice portrait, I commend you on your description, I find it grammatically very challenging as it does sound wrong in my head. Luckily my daughter in law is referred to as my daughters wife, I can get my head around that. Nowadays you have to be so careful not to cause offence..
