Before and after by joansmor

Before and after

I worked for Rufus Deering Lumber company for 20 years. I left when they sold the land (it being worth more than the business as it was in downtown Portland) I continues working as a contractor doing the books as they shut down and collected accounts. Yesterday I drove by and this building was in the lot where our old red building used to be. So sad.
That is sad )o: The red building had a lot of character.

Beautiful old building and a modern monster taking its place. Progress isn't always a good thing.

What a beautiful old building. When my dad graduated high school. His first job was in Portland.

What a shame, I can't imagine that the new building will have as much character and charm as the old one.

An interesting transformation, and not untypical of places with high land values.

What a shame, such a characterful old building, being replaced by huge modern one.
January 30th, 2023
Oh no, such a shock and such an eyesore
January 30th, 2023
So sad. There is no sentiment in this ugly world of business.
