LOL! I lived this just last week - daughter says she has good news and bad news - which did I want first? Turned out the bad news wasn't as bad as what was going through my head . . . thank goodness!
This photo suggests SO many stories and I love the two you've thought of. If I had to come up with a six word story for this photo it would be "I love you and I'm sorry." Because he's looking at that phone too closely for it to be a dad call. He's texting a girl, or maybe looking at her photo. Thank you so much for giving me this moment of inventing a story to go along with a photo. I used to do this all the time when I was taking writing classes. A favorite professor would show us a photo and make us create a story about it. Your photos always make me think of stories.
Love the use of negative space here and a great interpretation. Very thought-provoking.... you've put the whole failing an exam thing into perspective, I reckon.
