— was diagnosed with a osteoarthritis on both knees.
—Doctor said it’s still in mild stage, the pain is so intense specially at night which causes my sleeping patterns- can’t move well either,I can only lie down on my back which causes another aggravating back pain.
I’m now on physical therapy, hot and ice pack temporary ease the pain.
They prescribed some strong painkillers but I’m trying not to take them.. I just don’t like chemicals. All I want for now is to sleep and sleep but this excruciating pain doesn’t let me.
Can’t go to the gym, can’t stroll to the beach, can’t even walk my doggy- I’m stuck and freaking me out!!Cant even drive, but I’m so lucky to have a good neighbor who’s willing to do me this favor.
By next week— My ortho will remove excess knee fluid and will inject some steroids to calm me down a bit and work on my therapy…… let’s see what will happen 🙏🏼
I'm so sorry about your diagnosis. I hope all will be well again soon. I don't like to take chemicals either so I know what you are saying. Take care of yourself.
good on you for staying off those painkillers, do you sleep with pillows supporting your knees? you can also set up pillows to support your upper body while you are on your back, worth a try. I have had a flareups of joint pain and it was definitely emotionally related so do some kind of inner work on that also. All the best xxx
I'm so sorry about this. Hopefully this is just a temporary situation and with the doctor's care and pt and you'll be more mobile and pain-free soon. (I'm with you on not taking pain meds - not really worth it).
Joey...I'm so sorry for your knee problems. You are on top of it though by going to the doctor, diagnosis and treatment. Thank goodness for helpful neighbors. Please take care and keep us posted on your progress.
Totally understand; bad knees here also. Have had the steroid injections, was doing pretty well after the last one then tore the meniscus. I try to get gentle exercise, Motrin and Tylenol, and avoid the stairs. :). You are right, night time is the worst. I do use the pillows to support the knee sometimes. Hope things improve for you soon!
That's too bad, Joey! I only suffered of knee pain once, and I was driving and it was so harsh I had to stop at the nearest hospital and have them remove a can of knee fluid... I can't imagine with osteoarthritis, so sorry for you. But I also agree with @kali66: inner work helps as well as physical therapy. Take care.
cant think why your PT didnt suggest something like this!
when you get yourself all comfy with all your pillows, fill yourself up with he feeling of "I am supported" , it will help a lot to release the tension in your joints and feel comforted. xx
Joey I’m one voice out of the choir. Antinflammatory drugs are excellent and take out the inflammation in addition to the pain. No reason to be suspicious. Perhaps accompanied by gastric protection. Just came out of a similar situation and now walking around the city with some caution. We need to see your magnificent photos again soon! It will be a temporary problem and you’ll come out of the tunnel. But listen to your doctor.
I am also just one voice however I am a nurse. I understand you not wanting to take strong pain killers but I do suggest anti inflammatory drugs like panadol osteo taken as directed with food along with pillows for support and physical therapy. Good luck x
Oh my, Joe! What a pain, literally! I had terrible knee pain (one knee) that started in March out of the blue! My knee was so swollen and I could barely walk! When I went to Florida, I dragged myself through the airport and not one person stopped to help me! I had X-ray and MRI upon my return, thinking I had a torn meniscus but they couldn't find anything but minor arthritis. I used ice therapy, went to my fab chiropractor that I had not seen in 10 years and between his help and a cortisone shot, thankfully it is now back to normal. I hope this is just a bad phase and you will be on your feet again very soon! Take good care, Joe!!! :)
So sorry to hear about your ailments. I know what you're going through. one good thing is it's only early stages of oetroarthritist. I'm taking pills for that and today is my appointment for another steriod shot as I've rotator cuff damage. hope you get better soon. to be sleep deprived makes everything worse. good luck, Joe!
Hope you get better soon
