Flowers and walnuts: nature’s finishing touch. by johnfalconer

Flowers and walnuts: nature’s finishing touch.

In the Middle Ages before most of us were born, sugar was a luxury, so cooks used naturally sweet ingredients like carrots. Flowers, too, were often used to decorate and flavour desserts, adding both beauty and aroma. This ingenuity gave rise to early carrot-based desserts, laying the foundation for the beloved carrot cake we enjoy today.
Looks delish
