I was lucky enough, with a few hundred of my closest friends, to sing (lip syncing but don’t tell anyone) at the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. A year or so later the Australian Olympic Committee installed the names of all volunteers and Australian Olympians on poles outside the main stadium. My name is there!!!

Well spotted. kevin It’s a very short story. I forgot it. And I am currently getting some “sun spots” frozen off my head and face!!! Stupid is the word that comes to mind.

Thanks Diana, Jennie and Pat. I was amazed that there were so many Falconers. I did not know any of them. 50 years ago there were only two in the Sydney phone book. My parents and my older brother!!! The names on the poles are inscribed with thousands of volunteers who helped over the period of the games, including the Paralympics.
I love this proud portrait!

I am (was) a tenor. It was fun going this event. Free “admission” to the opening ceremony.
Thanks for the comments. I can’t believe it was 20 years ago!!
I wish I had know that they had replaced the Kylie statue! (I read they did it in November last year.) oh well. Back to Olympic Park!
I think they had 40,000 volunteers. It was a great experience and adventure.
