This is part of Pagham Lagoon, which is formed by shingle banks enclosing part of the English Channel. I took this photo standing on one of the banks, with my back to the sea. This stretch of the shore is constantly changing because of longshore drift and erosion and the houses in the background are sometimes threatened by flooding if the tide, the wind and the moonphases all synchronise.
I've got to admit it was the first time I'd been there. It's not a very tourist-centred beach though, as there aren't many places to park nearby and we could only find one cafe and a small amusement arcade.
@joev It was one of those days with cloud all morning and early afternoon and then the sun came out late afternoon. I think most people had stayed indoors!
