Corpus Christi by josiegilbert

Corpus Christi

Henry XV Duke of Norfolk began a tradition of laying a carpet of flowers along the nave of Arundel Cathedral every Corpus Christi. The bishop then walks over the flowers when he holds mass. This year is the centenary of Henry's death, so the carpet has been laid in his honour.
Beautiful picture and what a lovely idea ...

@fbailey The Duke saw something similar in Italy when he was on holiday and decided to copy it.

@365projectorgjenfurj The flowers are laid on the Tuesday evening, the cathedral is open to the public on Wednesday and then the mass takes place on the Thursday. By then the flowers are beginning to wilt.
