I am now a member of the 600 club. Since the beginning of last September when I also joined our 365 project, I've walked over 600 miles (hence my moniker of Walks@7). What started out as physical therapy after having been hit by a car in New Orleans, has become a challenge and a new outlook on life. I walk because I will not and am not giving into an injury. I have gained several new perspectives on things such as walking, crossing streets and turning quickly. The most important lesson is pushing myself to do things that I know will hurt because not giving in or up totally is my path forward.
Weirdly grateful for this whole thing. I do not like nor enjoy that I still am not healed completely but I don't and won't allow this to stop me. Walks@7 continues.....
Good on you, I admire your strength and your attitude towards what must have been a very tough time and I wish you all the best in the future. Nice shadow pic too.
@stephanies Thank you, it was this or pictures of my shoes and they have issues. @gardencat Thank you, my walks give me an extra excuse to look at maps of trails and then go. There are lots of places to walk around here. @megpicatilly Thank you, almost a selfie. I am told up to 3 years to have a tendon heal but it doesn't matter because I love to walk- taking pictures while walking is also a lot of fun. @la_photographic Thank you, I didn't add up the miles at first- it took me a bit to figure the pedometer app out completely, when I did I was amazed how far. @manek43509 Shower only! @susale 600 is actually less than 2 per day but it still feels good to say it and do it. @lsquared Thank you, the sun was actually out when I took this so a silhouette selfie seemed to fit. Onward!!!!
@cjphoto I needed something weird and catchy for the moniker so yup walks fit fine. I am doing well and PT just stops being fun after a year and a half. @izzyromilly The sun was being friendly so I had to take advantage of it. @kali66 Some days I feel like tossing my shoes at something but on they go and so do I. Stubborn and weird, that's me.
@octogenarian I walk now for me and I love it. My PT guy told me to buy two pairs of shoes so I let one pair 'rest' and then switch that way they support me better and longer. Thank you for the fav.! I feel that either I keep moving or I don't and I'm not stopping.
@joysabin When I broke my leg five years ago, I found the Veloped walker that cost close to one thousand euros, but I told myself that if I didn't get it I could never walk, so I got it. With it I can walk on the streets as well as on fields and narrow paths in the wood. http://www.trionic.us
@allycoxon Thank you, I was so happy to see the sun out. @deborah63 Thank you so much, I wasn't really going for that number but when I started adding up each month's total I knew I had to challenge myself. @sketch2 Thank you, that is more than enough, walking also lets me take shots or think about taking them.
@pickerandagrinner So true so true. I love my walks and often use my phone in my neighborhood. Today I took to trails near the SF Peaks and shot some Infrared - which has a modest learning curve. I'm not ready to post any of them yet but I do keep trying new things. I think that I need more sunshine to get this IR thing working the way I want.
Dear Joy, thank you so much for sharing your precious experience... Congrats for the goal reached and good luck for the tract of way you have to cover to reach the complete healing... You are not alone, we walk together!
Great shot!
