We have started winter hours where I volunteer so the crows and ravens don't get their daily dog food. This was taken today as they were ravenous and fighting over the kibbles. We feed them some so they won't pick through the garbage and leave if around when they are finished. Not really good to feed the wild birds but these guys are nicer and better behaved when we supplement their diet.
@domenicododaro Thank you, these beasties are a almost residents. They are rather jumpy but I am still in awe of them and their grace. @graemestevens Thank you, funny how they gather at meal time? @365projectorgjenfurj They do act like Keystone Cops sometimes. I was shooting through glass since I didn't wish to disturb their meal and antics. @sketch2 Thank you, I've tried several times to get shots of them but now have learned that I need to treat them to get some shots. Don't own a dog so I think that maybe cat treats? @lizhammond Thank you, they are very graceful, most times, and I love to hear them flap their wings as they fly away, @susale Just like kids and there aren't enough Popsicles to go around. @mrforja Thank you ever so much for the fav. My phone was all I had but maybe next week I'll bring the real camera and try again? @brett101 Thank you very much, I do respect that beak and those claws, even though they aren't considered raptors.
This is a fine shot!
I agree with you. We must help them, as the modern countryside isn't what it used to be even at our grandparents' time - there is no food for birds anymore.
I like crows, and the jackdaw is my favorite.
@overalvandaan I like the crows a tad more than the ravens. The house is timber frame with log edge siding. It is 114 years old this year. @octogenarian The crows and ravens in this area are well feed but also just so graceful and beautiful when flying. Love hearing the womp, womp sound as they fly by. @stephanies Thanks, I didn't know that we used dog kibbles to feed them until yesterday.
