Walked a slightly different section of the south rim today. The canyon was a gift today, calm-no wind, cool and few people this morning. This is the Kolb Brother's home and photographic studio. ( https://www.grandcanyon.org/arts-and-culture/kolb-studio)
@jerome Thank you, really appreciate the fav. The temperature was actually okay, about 30F, but the lack of wind made it very wonderful. The canyon can be somewhat hazy but I was very lucky today.
@cscarr97 Thank you, this gives a whole new spin on cliff dwelling.
@domenicododaro Thank you so much, I was looking at the Bright Angel Trailhead to check for ice and conditions when I looked up at the studio. I am amazed that they built right on the cliff.
@susale The view that the Kolb's had was spectacular. They had a corner on the photographic market at the canyon for a long time. The Bright Angel trail which goes down into the canyon starts just off to the left of their studio.
@johnfalconer Thank you every so much, and thank you for the following, your own work is amazing too.
@chard The brothers were very interesting, when they cleaned out Emery's garage, they found a canoe with a human skeleton in it. All sorts of stories have been started from that find.
@deborah63 Thank you a great deal. The canyon is almost medicine for my soul.
@lizhammond The spot is best very early and in winter, the light is dramatic and there are few brave souls out in the temperatures. I would have the courage to live in that house tough.
@jeffinvt Thank you very kindly, I used my old Sony cyber shot - after 9 years it still has it and much lighter than my DSLR.
@bkbinthecity Thank you so much, the Grand Canyon is without any doubt a gift. I feel lucky that I get to see it often.
@vignouse The canyon is there and a continual challenge, I do not think that a single shot can convey the spirit. I do count my lucky stars that I live close and I am now making the effort to experience it often. Just being there is medicine for my soul.
@overalvandaan I agree, the peace and quiet of early mornings at the canyon is something that most do not experience. Shame that we are 'loving our parks to death'.
@ziggy77 Thank you very kindly for the fav. I have just started to make sure that I get to the canyon often, there is real magic there and best in the early mornings.
@stephanies Thank you ever so kindly for the fav. My friend and I really like to get up and start walking early since the rest are still snug in their beds. We get the canyon rim mostly to ourselves which is a true gift.
