I was given this bottle of Tawny Port recently. I admit to being uninformed about Port in general but have learned a bit history. The taste, I am still acquiring but see a good 'relationship' forming.
This is also for week 4 of the Dogwood Challenge. Topic or assignment was warmth, tell a story that makes us feel warm inside.
In my salad days I used to drinkport with bitter lemon! Wash my mouth! Time changes everything. We are both aficionados of dry sherry, not widely available in France. We can buy 3 bottles of Fino from A for the price of what 1 would cost from our excellent local wine and fine food merchant.
@sararoche I have a friend who reviews wines and gives me the some of the 'extra' bottles now and then. I have never tried it before but I like Grand Marnier so strong sweet is okay. This isn't as sweet but strong. A smaller glass is what I should find.
@yrhenwr Very appreciative of the fav. Since I am a 'nubie' to port, is it acceptable to warm it a bit like brandy or Grand Marnier? I am also a rebel so I'll probably give it a try.
@s4sayer I haven't developed an appreciation for dry sherry, that might me next. I just googles Fino, I would have to have serve at a dinner party since it can turn very quickly.
@tstb13 Thank you so much, I did pour it back since I took this at 7:30am- my husband isn't a port drinker so its all mine :):)
It will be sure to appreciate a bit of warmth... I should say that's how i like it. I never drink spirits chilled. Cupped in the hand will do the job, as with brandy.
@golftragic My Tom suggested that maybe I might have two glasses so it doesn't look so lonely. This bottle may last a long time as my appreciation is still growing.
@lsquared Very grateful, thank you so much.
