Prickly Pear Fruit by joysabin

Prickly Pear Fruit

When these fruit ripen the jam/jelly that can be made is most tasty. ( https://practicalselfreliance.com/prickly-pear-jelly/ ) I've not made it myself but do love it.
What a very strange looking plant ...

I just want to start singing, “when you pick a prickly pear, don’t use the paw...”

What a very interesting composition. I looked at it from all different angles and it just fascinated me, looks like it could be in its side. Love the shadows the fruit make.

Lol - we have a jar of prickly pear jelly in our frig at the moment. It is delicious - but the lady who made it described the processes required - what a job! :)

@fbailey The spines on this baby keep me away too.
@gardencat Very good advice.
@taffy I understand that bats really like this and they feed on it a great deal.
@shannejw I do like it but from a distance :):)
@angel_a Cool, I see what you mean.
@jernst1779 We have a few around here, they mostly love the lower elevation, Phoenix area. They really are a hardy plant.
@robz I looked into making it too but it was almost as complicated as making ketchup. I'll let someone else have the fun.
@haskar Very for the fav, thank you most kindly.
@eudora I do love the look but I'll keep looking at them from a distance.
