I was just a tad early for the full galactic center but I admit to my knees starting to shake a bit. It was cold. I think about 47f (7 or so Celsius). It has been warm this October and my cold skills are still a bit rusty.
Jupiter is the bright star to the left of the Milky Way. Mars which is very close to us at present was in the opposite direction.
Just below the horizon on the right, houses or auto traffic? it is a distraction to me. Either all silhouette or some light painting, but I can't judge the distances for that.
So completely grateful for all the kind comments and favs. With the timing of the visibility of the center I compromised a bit. I would have loved to get a different foreground but I guess that is for another time and new moon. More fun to be had, later.
@theredcamera@amyk Thank you so very kindly.
The glow is the city of Flagstaff. For a city that claims to be a 'dark skies city' they have a long way to go. I am grateful that I need only drive 20 minutes to get these shots.
It is truly a gift to be able to see the Milky Way as clear as we do here. I am so very thankful for all of your most kind and thoughtful comments as well as the favs. I think I might ask for hunting socks (the ones with batteries๐) for the holidays as I understand that winter is the best time to capture star shots.

{I really want to go back to Yellowstone}
