This morning I was astonished to find a 30cm long slow-worm by the patio steps.

It posed for several minutes, but not a single one of my many images shows its forked tongue sticking out. Such is the fortune of the wildlife photographer! David Attenborough's camera team must be very patient.

It looks like a snake but not quite - body is too round! Good to have your camera ready!
