I don’t know the name of this; they are quite common in Lanzarote. Maybe it’s a variety of agave. Anyway it looks like the sort of thing that dies after flowering so dramatically. The flower is much taller than I am. All the planting had the wow factor at LagOmar in Nazaret. The story goes that Omar Sharif briefly owned the house before losing it in a game of bridge to someone who turned out to be European Champion at the time!
