Halloween isn’t one of my favorite holidays... or at least it wasn’t before I had kids. I was never a fan of the work that goes into costume building, and the makeup frequently lasted too many days after the event in the nooks and crannies of my hands and face. But with children, you get a sense of happiness, wonder, and joy that often eludes one in adulthood. And tonight there was so much of it in Diego and Justin that I wished I’d spent some time dressing up myself. Another holiday that the kids enhance? Christmas. I suspect, however, I will not be decking the halls as Santa Claus but one can never tell. These kids have reminded me so much of what these holidays represent that maybe, just maybe, I’ll don a white beard and red cap. Because for family, you do everything and anything to ensure they’re smiling.
