Holiday traditions

The turkey and mashed potatoes have been served, the tree chosen and strung with lights and decorations, and one day of festive, give-no-cares shopping is under our belt. But none of that means the holidays have arrived quite as much as flipping the calendar to December 1 and lighting my only childhood Christmas keepsake: a Ziggy candle tin given to me by my mom when I was probably five years-old. This has been the through-line for almost every Christmas since, so sharing it with my kids means a great deal to me. I’m pretty sure there’s a shot like this in Justin’s 365, but here is Diego’s first brush with Daddy’s most cherished tradition. Yeah, it gets a bit dusty to my eyes when I look at this shot. Someday I hope my children will light this candle to fondly remember their holidays passed and the love their dad had for this tradition with them.
