The polar vortex has made life difficult for most of the United States, but for this little man, the fresh blanket of snow that’s fallen was of mighty interest despite the subzero climes. In this shot taken by his mom - who honestly can compose a shot better than I - Diego is heading up the temporary road in our driveway to the athletic fields to see the giant excavator that’s digging up ground. She got some great shots of the machine as well, but this one, with the morning sun gleaming behind him and spreading long shadows of trees along the pristine snow, made me stop short. I have said it many times, but having someone in my life who can take even better photos than I do is a true gift.
