I went out in search of 'urban' shots today and part way through realised I could do a circular route to incorporate the cycle bridge over the railway. I think I've been over this bridge about once during my 30 years in Cambridge. We've just never lived anywhere that required that route but it was busy with cyclists and pedestrians today. The boy on the skateboard is Portuguese - he stopped to stroke Monty and told me he has a chocolate labrador at home.
Three good things:
1. WhatsApp etc for keeping in touch
2. Josh Beaumont selected for England
3. An old friend from PhD days is here on sabbatical so I've got him & his family booked in for Sunday lunch.
I would love to ride over this covered bridge - good not to look down on a mere railway. You must have waited till just one person was ahead which is the best! fav
That was a lucky shot only the the friendly Portugese chap in the frame. The stripey lines going over the roof give this an amazing concertina type look. Must be almost like being a piece of food going down the gullet! I have a fanciful head sometimes!
@jantan well we are claiming so Jan! His brother Sam is married to my 2nd cousin (we're close though - I don't have any first cousins!) Josh is the youngest of three & he's massive!
@jantan :0))) Well he needs lots of support - must be tough being compared with your legend dad all the time though they are pretty down to earth. I've got a lovely picture of Nigel and my brother-in-law and my dad with Bill at the wedding - I told him he was their hero and he said, 'Well it's nice to be somebody's hero round here!'
My daughters friends husband worked for a very long time as Bill Beaumonts manager & buyer for his fabric company. I think Dean ended up taking over & buying one of the different arms of that buisness after his son came in.
bridgetastic judith i love it faved. the Portuguese boy is essential as he takes our eye into and out of the bridge. Good old Monty too , a dog always helps strangers exchange words :)
