I had absolutely no intention of posting a dandelion pic as there have been such amazing examples on this site but I found myself in a field this afternoon with essentially nothing else! I went for the 'take loads and hope one is in focus' strategy as I had an ebullient spaniel bouncing through them sending clouds of seeds floating into the air. I have discovered that it is impossible to blow a dandelion clock at the same time as photographing it and that if you are going to put the dog lead down while you take photos in a field then it's a good idea to remember to pick it up again!! I like the clingy on seeds in this.
You can never have enough pictures of the dandelions...they are so much filled with childhood memories from telling the time to those old playground tales that if you pulled a dandelion before it was in clock form you would wet the bed at night..besides blowing dandelion clocks these days is one of the few things which is free and is not ruled by the health and safety boffins..orders to dress in helmets goggles and pink wellies in order that the seeds cause you no harm...when blown.
@phil_howcroft Thanks Phil! I shot in auto and got fairly well back so that I didn't reduce the DOF too much and then cropped in - I was pleased with the outcome but I'd like to have a version without the 'full' seed head in the shot. Cinemascope deals quite well with blown whites though.
Do you use the 'macro settings' on your camera or just shoot in auto for these shots ?
