Well what a morning! I was up early to drop Nigel at the hospital at 7am for his knee operation (all done and he's home and fine so long as I don't ask anything too complicated such as 'tea or coffee?'!). Then I dropped Adam at school on my way over to Waitrose only to get a phone call before I'd left the premises to say he'd forgotten a field trip. So I went in search of a packed lunch while he went to raid his PE locker for suitable clothes only to find it empty - and NOBODY had a pair of tracky trousers! So then I had to go back and pick him up, take him home and then drive over to Thetford Forest (to be fair he was offering to stay home and finish his art homework - which is the reason he missed the assembly which gave details of the field trip...). Anyhow I threw Monty in the car and we managed to arrive about 2 minutes after the school coaches. Having retreated to a place out of gunshot noise (which gave both dog and me a heart-attack (army rifle range nearby)) we had a lovely foggy walk. In fact Monty was in heaven leaping over the bracken and through the trees and I got to take some photos so all was well. And I got home just in time to collect Nigel. Off to buy food then tomorrow I may actually be able to do the work I was supposed to do today.....
This beautiful picture belies your nightmare day!!! We are often in and around Thetford Forest, walking and birding. You have made it magical....and a fave! another PP on the way i feel :-)
@fueast Yes - more than a bit 'tense' in the car but we did have to laugh when I told Adam to read the directions and he said, 'There's a forest on the left' when we had driven past 20 miles of woodland already!
Well Judith after that epic day you deserve all these faves !!! Fantastic picture , I can't praise it enough !! the lovely rich red of the bracken contrasting with the misty back ground ! Hope Nigel soon recovers & is a good patient !!!!
Oh my god, Judith, I think this is my most favourite of your pictures ever! I really loved that blue foggy dude from January or December but this beats even that. Fav, fav, fav a hundred times over!
@jannaellen LOL - November! December was a rubbish month! Thanks very much - Adam said the same - it's a miracle you both agree but then he was sucking up because I'd had to drive him out there!
@happypat Well he's cancelled tomorrow's trip on Eurostar but has gone to karate this evening - he promises he won't do anything other than sit with his leg up and do paperwork for his students.... Rachel is there so he won't dare do anything else. I think he needs a good night's sleep after the anaesthetic as well.
It is amazing how much can fit into a day! But to actually get that picture too -- well that was one great day! I love the colors the mood the composition, the light.
What a hectic day , I don't know how you find time to take such beautiful photos Judith . I hope Nigel is not in too much pain, as I know knees can be ugh!
What a fantastic shot. I don't know what you processed with this but it is really intriguing. FAV. You are going strong. Isn't that 3 PP's in the last few days. You deserve it.
Sounds like a regular day in paradise!!!!! Congrats on PP! Hope field trip was great fun......this is splendid....the vibrant green and rust colours against the delicate misty tree tops...wow Judith!!!!
@katteach@sailingmusic Thanks for your lovely comments. The original was pretty but the colours not as vibrant - I used "cinemascope' then about 50% Ortonish and a small about of Cross-process to spic cup the colour of the mist.
wow, I miss looking on here for a few days and you've notched up another batch of amazing photos - I love the colour of the bracken here - how did you get it to glow like that?
g'bejeezus 85 fav so far mrs.. no wonder this is lovely.

@sleepdozer57 Well it's just not compatible with a busy life is it?! I've struggled this week ad I've had so many comments - I feel bad not commenting back!
@helenmoss CinemaScope & a bit of Ortonish from Picnik - when it closes down I'm stuffed!! Thank goodness for fog - I've had no ideas recently - I think I've photographed all of dog-accessible Cambridge!
A FAV for me :)
