I took Monty south of the river today with a view to taking a nice postbox/bench combo I'd spotted on my way back from Waitrose this morning. South of the river is considered the more exclusive residential area and has lots of big houses and private schools. Personally I prefer north which has all the colleges in close proximity but then I'm not looking for a £1million+ house so it's just as well. This blossom was taken in a private road which I won't name but it's very pretty and there's a house currently for sale at £1.65 million (and that will be the starting price for bids). Nigel's ex-boss used to live on this road and he didn't really like it because he was intimidated by his neighbours. One day he received a letter from the residents' association informing him that there had been complaints because the cherry tree outside his house was dropping its blossom in an untidy way. He was taken in until he became suspicious of his only friendly neighbour who called by and couldn't get the grin off his face. But it was a measure of the power of the residents' association that he was actually scared!!
@fueast Quite right. And somebody has built a monstrous fence on our road and we don't have a residents' association but everybody is muttering about it so we need one!
This is so beautiful Judith , not just the blossom which is stunning but it's the way you have all that bokeh & more blossom in the back ground ..almost a three D effect ! I always remember having a B&B lady in who lived in Henley on Thames & she said that her neighbours would be very upset with her if she hung her washing out , I was horrified but actually you don't see much washing hanging out these days !
Perfectly composed... beautiful lighting.... fabulous bokeh... fave! I don't think I would want to live in that neighborhood either. What a pity if the only thing they have to concern themselves with are the neighbors cherry blossoms... must have a terribly boring life!
Perfect blossom shot and depth of field. A real beauty. Our area is relatively slummy but occasionally one of the busybodies in the street has been known to get desperate and cut back our Jimi Hendrix hedge ...
Great story! and a lovely shot! My daughter who lives in a rural village south of Cambridge had to rehome her 3 guinea fowl because a neighbour complained of the noise they caused (minimal) - they can now be seen in Linton Zoo with the giant rabbits, wallabies and zebras!!
a beautiful shot judith ....I'd have done a bit of gardening and tried to move the right hand side leaf behind the blossom....in fact if it was my tree i'd have nipped it out....to give a better display of blossom :)
Gorgeous bokeh!
