I had a lovely day with an old school friend of mine and her family who are visiting from N Carolina. She squeezed in a visit to us before heading north to stay with family and we enjoyed doing Cambridge stuff. Nigel punted us down the river as Rachel was tied up doing tour after tour - hurrah!! The sunny weather has certainly brought out the crowds. Very disappointed with the quality of today's photos - too much talking! After two early starts, a late night and lots of fresh air today I'm going to struggle to stay awake for the Olympic swimming - and I'm behind commenting already. Do my best to catch up...
Don't worry Judith, we've all been there! We won't take it personally! This has a real feel of Venice about it, so civilised and tranquil! I know what you mean about not being able to concentrate when you are with others.... It's easier on your own isn't it! I tend to take my point and shoot in this situation, more relaxed!
Nice POV - a few years ago we had a lovely Sunday afternoon punting on a sunny day. This pic reminds me of how relaxing it was (especially as I didn't have to have a go at punting) just sitting back relaxing and trailing a hand through the water
@jackie8@rosiekind@wordpixman Would have been more relaxing a bit less busy - some craziness but Nigel's a dab hand and can steer around trouble fortunately!
I think this is a wonderfully angled photo & great POV. The bridge is a added bonus giving atmosphere & focus onto the punter...presumably you were in the following punt & those aren't Nigels legs?
Never mind the commenting bit we can't all keep up all of the time sometimes other things come first in our lives !
Boy do I know what you mean re not time to put attention on our shots. I didn't like mine today either...though I do like yours. great pov and composition
Love this shot! We have gondoliers who take people around the lagoons of the Charles River in Boston, although the boats are very different - more like the boats you'd find in Venice.
