First of all huge thanks for all of your kindness re yesterday's post. Some clarity has now been achieved so everybody is feeling more positive. I went out in pursuit of film crews today and had a few nice chats with the security men (one has a black cocker spaniel at home but was worried I might by a pap in disguise - apparently they were a right pain in Harry Potter! I think he realised I wasn't when my inability to recognise/remember any celebrity names became apparent.) Sadly I only spotted them in action inside St John's (and even my magic Camcard couldn't get me in) so I only have a rubbish photo in Extras as they are finishing today. The famous bike/poster/railing combinations have been stripped and look very odd indeed - glad they aren't usually like that!
This photo is taken on Bridge Street on my way back home - the shops along here are in very old buildings - all wonky and once a row of brothels, pubs and opium dens serving the dockers on the nearby quayside.
Three positives for the day:
1. Monty jumped off a garden bench with his back leg stuck between the slats but did NOT sustain serious injury despite a lot of complaining and dramatic limping for 15 minutes.
2. We have finally equipped Adam for his impending trip to Iceland - shopping with boys is such a pain and now it's done!
3. A conversation with a consultant surgeon who was kind and compassionate has made everybody feel much better indeed about choices to be made.
Lovely soft focus Judith and I'm glad you had a good discussion with the consultant which has made it slightly easier to make what are always difficult choices. There are some kind and compassionate consultants about and it is good that you have been fortunate to have his support
Love the focus of the narrow street & the figures in the distance, how your ideas change when you really get into photography.....there was a time when I would think something like this was out of focus, silly me!!!!!
Glad things are looking up but a long haul in front of you still!
@fueast And a hockey camp in Spain in October.... I'll be lucky to get to Cromer. He is feeling lucky though and quite excited despite having to wearing waterproof over trousers which really cramp his style. The teachers are getting excited too and keep sending them all e-mails about particularly good rock photos they've found!
@fueast Yes - in the spring - they aren't usually so indulged!! Morocco was because Rachel is off and away this year, Iceland happened to fall this year - he hasn't done many school trips abroad, and the hockey was a bit of an, 'Oh no he's been selected!!' I'm off to Sao Paolo in November though - a conference but exciting!
@fueast Yeah don't know if it isn't going to be all high tech new buildings but it's a very right on conference with some very cool speakers - Yemeni human Rights women and the like so I'm hoping there will be tours and we'll see all sides of life. If not I'll have a free day or so.
I like your 3 positives - I write in my diary every night before I turn out the light and I might see if I can incorporate that, at least on some days. Oh, like the shot too!
love this shot -great colours and editing. Glad everything is resolving re family. loving the 3 things, think I'll try and do a daily thing...it'll be a good blog reminder!!
I'll give you another positive for today: this is a fav for me :). I love the angle and especially the colours! I'm glad you found a compassionate surgeon - I've heard they are hard to come by. Sending hugs for the decisions ahead!
Excellent job of urban renewal ~ this charming area seems to have completely overcome its rather shady past.
Love the three positives...I read Martha's suggestion about posting three good things each day and I keep forgetting to add that to my photo blurb.
Is the consult regarding your shoulder issue? Sending good thoughts ~
@peggysirk It turns out you can live without a hip - we were pretty shocked at the proposal but are feeling a little more reassured now - sadly our relative can't make the choices for herself which really makes it very difficult.
Glad things are looking up but a long haul in front of you still!
"dramatic limping" - LOL! ;)
