The nice people at 'White Stuff' are dog lovers and allow (in fact encourage) dogs throughout the shop but I am usually reticent to take Monty in as he is likely to help himself to small items on low shelves or try and dry his wet ears on the merchandise. But he was newly groomed today so he got to go upstairs while Nigel switched a sweatshirt for a better size. They have some lovely stuff in for the new season - but I've bought a new pond instead this month!
1. Rachel is cracking on with organising University and has found a few of her new flatmates on Facebook already.
2. It's a long weekend ahead so I will get to drag Nigel out somewhere nice for a walk on Monday.
3. In the interests of World wellbeing and with considerable self-sacrifice I have tackled Adam's feet - the battle is won but the war continues!
That's a really great shot. FAV! In the days when dogs were not actually banned from department stores, my mum took our pug dog into Debenham's and it disgraced itself with a steaming pile on the stairs. I have no idea what happened next - curiously enough! Selective amnesia perhaps!
@quietpurplehaze Hahaa - may be that's why they're banned!! I am surprised how many independent shops - including a very expensive men's shop - are happy for the dog to go in. And then there are others where the couldn't do any harm at all where he's not allowed - I like the market because I can shop and walk him at the same time though he does tend to bark when he gets bored!
Love white stuff myself but I am all spent up now too. I am impressed they let dogs in though, don't think you would get many dogs going in the Fishergate store though! Love Monty looking in the mirror & he looks very clean. Rachel sounds keen, you are going to miss her!
Well done Monty - what a handsome fella! By the time we get our Guiding Eye pups into stores, they are fairly well-behaved...um...but not always. And they have advertising on their jackets. Talk about embarassing!
Monty looks like he's been a shop dog all of his life ~ a perfect gentleman among the clothing racks. Such a fabulous composition!
What an exciting time for Rachel! Where will she be attending school?
@peggysirk She's going to Birmingham University to study Psychology. Our Birmingham is very different from your Birmingham (not that I've been to the Alabama version!) - it's a big, working class, multicultural city with loads going on - not the prettiest although there's been massive investment that has improved it enormously. The University is in the posh part so it's quite leafy and pleasant (I went to Manchester and the University there is definitely not in the posh part!) The course there is just what she wants - lots of science and clinical stuff. Don't be fooled by Monty!
Wishing Rachel all the best with her university studies/experiences! Birmingham sounds like a very good match for her career goals. Wishing her mum well in the adjustment to having one leave the nest. When my girls each went off to school I attempted to stay more focused on the exciting new chapters in their lives than to the changes it meant to mine. You've done a great job with your chick ~ it's all good! :)
@peggysirk I know it's the proper order of things - if she hadn't got in or was too emotionally unprepared to leave home that would be much worse. And she's very confident and really her own person so hopefully things will go well. I have the occasional 'moment' though!
He's so cute, and well behaved. And so nice that shop owners are dog friendly. Scout would go crazy in a shop - more harrassing other customers for pats and cuddles.
I didnt know dogs could go in some shops! He looks very well behaved, I wonder what the shop assistants thought of you taking pictures of your dog in their shop?! Good luck to Rachel going to Uni, a big step for her and you! :)
Fav! Two of my favourite things in one picture. Your lovably and ever obliging model hound and a White Stuff shop! Was in there today actually, purchasing a dress for an evening wedding reception this week-end. You're right, they have got some lovely things. Might need to go back for the spotty skirt, just don't tell Richard!
