The Master of Christ's College is Frank Kelly FRS. He's a mathematician with particular interest in random processes, networks and operations and, it would appear, Halloween. Last year you may remember I had a photo of the annual college pumpkin carving competition so I dipped in today to see if I could get a repeat performance. According to the posters it will be all go tomorrow but in the meantime the Master's Lodge is good and ready for Wednesday. I'm guessing that living in the Master's Lodge may be a tiny bit spooky at the best of times - I'm not sure I'd want to spookify it further.
Three good things:
1. Funky mathematicians who like a laugh
2. Extra long lie in this morning
3. Cute sleeping dog running in his dreams :0)
Terrific shot, love the colors, the door & the decor above the door, that looks like it might be there all the time. Very cool. The bats up the side a great touch as is the pumpkin, with webbing. But the creepy part is the face looking out the window, like you are being watched. Great capture.
who is that looking out of the window?? I slept in someones college rooms at Cambridge once. It was totally weird and maybe the worst nights sleep I ever had! Definitely haunted.
@fueast Forgot to say I nearly took Monty in Sainsbury's today in pursuit of a girl in a hoody with 'Trust me I'm an Engineer' on the back - just was too quick for me!
@fueast I don't know - I think they may just be Halloween things but I'll investigate. My old colleagues went on one and were a bit freaked out in places.
just wrote a whole paragraph & pressed the wrong button by mistake.....anyway Judith I forgot what I put so will just say love that door but especially that fabulous heralded canopy thing over the top! Look forward to the carving competition & some spooky photos from you & @feast!
Oh my gosh...I love this! It is so Harry Potterish. Whimsical and classic. Simply fabulous!!! Got to love a mathematician with a sense of humor and fun...I didn't know such existed. Just kidding, sort of. :)
Monty stole my sleep last night by the sound of it - I was running but wide awake! liek this shot and what a laugh that prof must be - I remember last year's shot
