Well I know I should have ironed my Christmas pinny but the ironing board had been festively dismantled. Rachel took this for me in a spare half minute and says I look fat - well after the dinner that's very accurate! Anyway, now the kids are older I love the lunch part of Christmas Day the best. I enjoy preparing it - usually pretty much on my own with Classic FM Christmas Requests on the radio but I bought Nigel some WiFi speakers for Christmas which meant I was regaled with Adam's Christmas choices instead (he's always the quickest to get the technology working). Both teenagers were gratifyingly pleased with their Christmas stocking presents - I should have bought bigger Nano Lego kits - and stayed around chatting while the menfolk were out dog-walking.
Three good things:
1. Friends and family
2. Delia Smith
3. We only eat sprouts at Christmas.
Nice composition. Judith I love brussels and couldn't imagine only eating them at Christmas! Sounds like you had a nice day. Happy Christmas to you all
We both like sprouts - Christmas wouldn't be the same without them! Your Christmas apron gives me an idea - my big cooking day is today, and I'm sporting my Christmas apron......
Sounds like a perfectly delightful Christmas Day! Darling Christmas apron and sweet shot by Rachel.
Happy Boxing Day to you! Not entirely sure what one does on Boxing Day, unless one has a staff of servants/employees.
Great sprout shot. I love them reheated sautéed with lots of garlic and red pepper flakes. Yum. I'm sure feeling fat at the moment. Hopefully that will pass!bummer re you not getting to enjoy your classical station.
A great and unusual apron. You cannot even look fat if you are eating sprouts. We mostly have a whole leg of lamb at Christmas but had turkey this year and it was really scrummy! (I didn't queue up at that butcher's to get it...)
Are sprouts a British tradition or just a Greenwood one? The green looks nice with the red!!! Maybe I should be eating sprouts instead of all the baking that was given to me (my friends all know I love baked goods and am totally inept at baking)...maybe after I have eaten it all....
@bpaquette Oh no it's the whole country!! The entire national sprout crop is timed for Christmas day. @jgpittenger That is actually very tempting!! I must admit I serve mine with pancetta, chestnuts and Marsala so you can't really taste them!
Great Christmas shot - love this - Nano lego...what is that? A Lego product I am unaware of? surely not! (off to Google!!) SOunds like a great day...and yes, glad sprouts are only for one day a year!!
Happy Boxing Day to you! Not entirely sure what one does on Boxing Day, unless one has a staff of servants/employees.
