All 8 photos I took today were of cats asleep in the sunshine. This one has been a target of mine in the past because he reminds me of Peggy Sirk's aptly named Scrappy. I got caught taking his picture by the owner and her friend who both laughed at him and encouraged me - and then I tucked my camera back in its bag and ventured into a part of town where flashing fancy cameras about is a bad idea. Huge thanks for the response to my heron - I haven't been on PP for ages so it was very exciting to see him there.
Three good things:
1. Living in a touristy town which means summer holiday jobs.
2. My nieces looking amazing for their prom.
3. Joey Essex (a character in a 'reality' TV show which is mostly fake but he's genuinely a bit thick) who said of Friday, 'It's the longest day of the year - yeah, normally there are 24 hours but today there are 30.'
Look at that dangly leg & his head on the crook of his arm, what a great pose...just bliss in the sun! I want to come back as a cat in a later life!!
Jack wants a holiday job but no luck so far!
@happypat He'll have to get over to Blackpool! Both ours have been lucky being only 16 when they started. Adam got the waitering job by walking into the college and asking - and then found out there were going to be no shifts available until August but he went in to see the manager about how to book shifts in advance and immediately got offered one - then he's been asked to do three tomorrow (though I'm guessing that will change when they tot up the hours). You've got to be a bit pushy and try a direct approach it seems!
@judithg He has applied for a few, one in particular at a taxi firm, booking on the telephone which would be just up Jacks street but no go yet! Blackpool is pretty much closed up ..far too many unemployed already, hopefully something will turn up!! Good for Adam he has persisted & done well! Jack is a strange lad & not very practical, i can't imagine him juggling a tray & scooping potatoes with two spoons as his cousin does, would be in the lap in a flash!!! Playing background music would be more his line!!! Not much of a physical worker our Jack!!!
I LOVE this photo. I'm not a Cat Person (we always had them growing up, and I did love them but it sort of felt long-suffering) but the chin on paw and dangly leg and fluffy belly are too awesome.
@happypat Oh well if you saw Adam eating you'd wonder about his serving skills - usually uses his fingers! Music's a great skill to have for making money though. Shame about Blackpool - not like the old days...
@jewelsandbinoculars PS My daughter is very long suffering with the cat - I was wondering if she'd actually feed her while we were away but the cat moans so much she no doubt gave in!
@maggiemae I forgot so say that Monty got attacked by a cat a bit later on - it shot out of a hedge with teeth and claws bared - we had to hot foot it across the road as it was determined to have a go. This one opened one eye, looked at the dog and closed it again!
Perfect cat on a hot day shot. Mine have dozed on the window sill for hours. Only the refrigerator door opening will rouse them. Scrappy looks like he's been around the block a few times.
