I'm resorting to the garden again today. I went and did a big supermarket shop this morning (see previous rant about inability of family to cope with less than full fridge) but set out rather later than intended due to a dreadful night's sleep. We sleep at the front of the house and it's still hot so the windows are open and although we have decent noise tolerance now and again you get a really loud motorbike, or car doors slamming, or drunken yelling students who wake you up at 4am. Last night we had a succession of those things. The same students woke up Monty who was rather unsettled and kept jumping up and barking all evening anyway. I got up and took him out (it was lovely outside at 4am), fed him a bit of extra food as he had been on post op rations and went back to bed where it was too hot and I lay awake and heard the milkman delivering at 5 and then the traffic starts to wake up at 6 so that's that. So I was a bit bleary eyed when I stumbled out of bed at 6.45 to say hello to Adam who said, 'I don't know why you get up - I'm fine by myself.' Anyway it turned into a very hot day again but the word in the supermarket was that it is to be the last day of summer - maybe but 20* will do nicely for September.
Three good things:
1. Laughing at Monty who has been hiding behind the door and refusing to come in to see me because the (cracked) bathroom mirror is propped against my desk and he is scared of his reflection.
2. A large towel to prevent 'invader dog' reflection.
3. Catching up with Rebecca tomorrow - haven't seen her in ages and she has a new book out. It's a glittery Christmas one so I will 'feature' it here a bit nearer to Christmas.
Off to do battle with Monty and the bath so see you in half an hour!
Monty's ten minute bath, hope he quite enjoys it! It's been a little chilly here in the North & I look with envy tonight at the weather forecast...sun all the way with you!!!
Lovely bokeh Judith, I have never heard of these flowers but they do make a pretty photo,,,very delicate heads on those stems.
I was up reading at 4am & the B&B was down before me this morning!! That' a whole new story!!!! Am exhausted with talk!!
@happypat Big rain tomorrow Pat - actually we need a bit... Must be really annoying when the B&B get up before you! Monty's bath was fine except I had to kneel and stroke his ears for 10 min and he insisted on sitting down which created a bit more wet than necessary!
Wow, pentagon bokeh, how the devil ....? I have just completed 2 mammoth Sainsburys shops in a week and am now lying low as Malcolm doing the accounts ....... Wish me luck!
@lucypics Luckily Nigel doesn't have the faintest about the household accounts! You have to point out that you have 4 big people in the house eating all day AND you have to buy back to school food - double whammy!!
Is this another name for Japanese Anemone? Lovely shot Judith. I know what you mean about not sleeping very well as I have nights like that but fingers crossed, I've been a bit better lately
Great bokeh - gives a little sci-fi edge to the natural look. I have been having sleepless nights lately - very uncommon for me. I will set my iPhone to Cambridge time and look you up...haha - j/k - sleep better tonight!
I've just read your story - poor you - and was about to tell you that these flowers are not pentagons! Then I saw the pentagons.......! I shot one of these today but ended up posting something different.
LOL to Monty's reflection-phobe! Lovely flower shot - like the bokeh. It's been rather too hot today - I took off for a run before I realised quite how hot it still was at 6pm!! I'm hoping rain brings a better night's sleep soon!
Wow Judith, that is a fantastic shot, esp. the bokeh pentagons!
Poor Monty, my timeshare spaniel is scared of white carrier bags so I understand irrational fear!
Lovely focus and tones. Sound like Monty has a self image problem, he prob doesn't think it's him! It's amazing that you are managing 365 too at the moment.
Man, that sounds like one of my nights - finally Little J had a good night's sleep but then my husband woke me up by turning around so violently the whole bed shook. When I finally got back to sleep the garbage disposal service rang the doorbell - at 7 am! Ah well, the flower is really pretty and I do hope your sleep will be better tonight!

I have a end of summer feel as well!
