Make do and mend

Rachel drove Monty and me over to Wimpole Hall yesterday for a walk. We were kept entertained by some family discord - pairs of twin boys of about 8 trailing behind their mother, suddenly one goes at the other fists flying and then runs to his mother and complains that his sibling hit him for no reason (he may have done but it was more subtle than the retaliation). Mum patted him on the head and they walked on together. Meanwhile sibling is heading off in the opposite direction. Eventually the other two turned round and followed at a distance for about half an hour before eventually catching up. We weren't quite sure how it would pan out as they hadn't left each other a lot of room for reconciliation but mum told the 'wandering son' that the dog had missed him and all was well - think she was used to it...
When we got to the hall there was a 1940's re-enactment thing on - unfortunately you had to get tickets for most of it and Monty wasn't allowed a ticket but there were some commercial stands with free for all access.
Three GT:
1. Siblings (mostly)
2. Dressing up
3. Rations of excellent home made chocolate for sale
Wimpole - great place for a family day out. Remember it well from when the kids were younger. Nice shot Judith

Meg
Love your photo of another time when people actually mended things and kept using them. Great story and I am enjoying your 3GTs.

it's a lovely pic judith, but i don't quite see the attraction of dressing up in 1940's gear for a re-enactment thing.....then again some people might say they don't see the attraction of me driving 120+ miles around the motorway network to watch bolton wanderers...each to their own i suppose :)

@taz_o I think it's a 1940's fascinator!

@judithg amazing - I'd last 2 minutes with something like that on my head before I started to pull it apart!
