I thought it would be nice to take Monty through Granchester Meadows today and I thought right. It was lovely in the spring sunshine. Lots of people were out walking to the Tea Gardens and we ended up there ourselves as Monty failed miserably to drink from the river when he had the chance (the bank is a bit steep on the whole). We diverted off from the Meadows a bit early as the bullocks were right across the path and when they are new youngsters they can get a bit silly. The village is under siege from film crews - the pub car park is full of people painting props and making new signs look old etc. All the action was going on at the church - I could have walked past I think but I thought Monty might bark at an inopportune moment. There seems to be an awful lot of people required - and an awful lot of standing around. I think the locals are rather enjoying it - one old chap said the 'road closed' signs are great - hardly any traffic coming through and the road is almost always open.
Three GT:
1.I took quite a nice photo of a tree creeper but in the end decided I had to zoom in just a bit too far.
2. Met a group of people I knew and had a little catch up (which is partly why I didn't get close enough to the tree creeper - didn't want to be rude and ignore people).
3. Chatting with dog walkers - everybody in a friendly mood on the Meadows and one said his partner had probably done Monty's anaesthetic.
My dream would be to have a house with shutters.......a perfectly proportioned dream house!
I am impressed you decided to leave the barbed wire along the bottom which contrasts beautifully with the softness & prettiness of the rest. Fave.
@happypat I know - rather nice! On quite a busy road though - quite a few of the houses in Granchester are massive and they are all expensive. I cropped out the wire & then put it back!
I really love this shot, the barbed wire adds to the beauty somehow. Must join you one day for this walk, when my foot improves ( getting a bit peed off to be honest!!)
Oh love those tea gardens. We got harassed by frisky young bullocks on a walk once and had to clamber over barbed wire and I ended up falling on my arse in a muddy puddle.
