Over Easy

I officially have the laziest dog in the country - he will not go out on walks until late morning and then he wants to go in the car and spends most of his time trying to get back to it. But I was determined to go out and check on the swans' nests so he didn't get much choice in the end. The first one in Newnham looked pretty much abandoned with at least three eggs in it - I wanted to wander up and down the river after our walk to see if mum was about with cygnets but Monty wouldn't budge from the car door. This is the nest by the punt store - mum was turning her eggs - she's a bit behind the other one so hopefully things are still progressing well.
I was getting a bit frustrated because the shed builders kept calling me to say they were further and further delayed with the prospect of rain getting ever greater. They've arrived now (4 hours late!) and are very nice young men and it's only drizzling so I've shut up. And after yesterday's moaning I find myself contemplating on the wonderful Maya Angelou and her attitude to adversity. So instead of three good things I leave you with one of her quotes and think I may have failed the test...
"I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights."
Really clear shot. Great focus.

A fave from Harry!
We have been discussing lenses & I have been sayin how I am missing a longer zoom....showed him this as an example but he didn't say here's the money go & get one...liked your photo though!
Not like Monty to be lazy...has he gone all soft since he was ill? Brilliant shot Judith......love her care of her eggs.

@happypat Thank you Harry! Love my long lens - use it all the time though I notice the exposure is going a but AWOL with it. Must need a new camera - can't see Nigel agreeing to that though!

@happypat oh I forgot - I think Monty's lethargy may be due to the allergy tablets. They are expensive kinase inhibitors and so are supposed to have fewer side effects - will have to google!

@judithg I think you could be right Judith....I always considered Monty a real lively dog always ready for a walk so I was surprised at your comment above. Mind you I suppose he us getting older...I have been lethargic all day!!n

@rosiekind she's on the other side of e river (about 6 ft wide at this point) and seems to be very comfortable with all the visitors on the path who stop and take her photo! Be interesting to see how she is when they hatch.

A fantastic capture , I could do with having a better camera I must start dropping hints. Hope Monty perks up and it is just the effect of the pills

Sweet capture! Hope every egg hatches! And I have to smile a bit about Monty... sometimes we let a 9 pound dog get the best of us at our house! She rules!

Oh fab fave. Oh dear, I think I wouldn't come out very well with Maya's test ...

This is wonderful - I wasted loads of shots trying to get a swan and her eggs so I am quite envious! fav

It says a lot about me, then! (Referring to your last sentence!) Well times shot, sometimes they can sit there for hours without giving you a glimpse.

Look, she is raising herself from the nest just for you. Amazing timing.
Rainy days - I dance (or fall down rabbit holes) lost luggage - oh well! Tangled lights - make cup of tea and get myself settled in for the afternoon.

@lucypics You'd pass! Normally I'm quite calm but yesterday was a big fail. I am quite calm that our beautiful new shed is too small - 6' instead of 6'6" deep which is critical for fitting in bikes... but I've checked all the paperwork, checked it doesn't include the roof overhang and we haven't paid for it yet so I'm chilled!!

May 29th, 2014
@shepherdmanswife Well it was/is bespoke and expensive so I hope so - just waiting to hear back from them!

You captured a really intimate moment here - very, very sweet. Hihi, I think I'll pass the rainy day and the lost luggage test (the second you have to if you travel to Africa and want to stay sane) but the third - never!
