The Spring lambs born in March are now almost as tall as their mothers and it looks pretty uncomfortable for the mother when a hefty lamb on each side nearly lifts her off the ground when trying to suckle. Of course they're perfectly able to eat the grass but they still want to top up on mum's milk. It was shearing tome for the ewes three weeks ago in the middle of a very cold spell and I felt sorry for them in the back-to-freezing conditions with no woolen fleece to keep them warm. The lambs still had a lovely dense woolen coat to protect them by then though!
What a stunning animal study. So much expression in the ewes' eyes, amazing on the black background, oh I have just notice that cheeky single blade of grass still in view. Love it :)
