Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) - male underwing

Lots of these beautiful butterflies today. Despite being called "common" the males have the most startling bright blue top to their wings and seeing them flit to and fro is a rare treat! This photo shows the underside of the male which, though less dramatic, is still very beautiful. The females are mostly brown with varying touches of blue.
Absolutely gorgeous! Amazing lighting, details and composition. FAV
