Collard Hill by julienne1

Collard Hill

This is a view of Collard Hill from Low Ham. It is an important site owned by the National Trust where the rare Large Blue Butterfly can be seen. In the picture you can see the contrast between the flat ground of the Somerset Levels and the raised ground of the Polden Hills which is a range that extends from Puriton to Street. The Poldens run almost parallel to the much higher and bigger Mendip hills and the flat marshy ground in between is what is called the Somerset Levels.
Isn't it beautiful and framed by an interesting cloud formation

@jomo @shirleybankfarm @loweygrace @scrollwizard @woofandweft1 @katrinastabback @leestevo @yeshanghai @rickster549 @peterday @thewatersphotos @nitrogene @scrollwizard - if there's one thing we do well on round here it's greens! One advantage of the rather rainy end to the summer is that it looks to be staying that way for a long time yet!
