This is the newest arrival at Ham Wall RSPB nature reserve. He's a newly hatched Great Crested Grebe peeping out from under his mum's wing. He was already keeping both proud parents busy as they shared incubating and fishing duties to keep him warm and fed right from the start. There are three more eggs in the nest that should be hatching any time now - keeping the parents even more busy. Once they are all hatched the whole family will leave the nest - the chicks hitching a ride on mum's back while dad continues to keep them supplied with small fish.
