Water, water everywhere by julienne1

Water, water everywhere

... and much of it still falling on my head! This is more overspill from the River Parrett at Langport (glimpsed here on the top left)
Fabulous shot, you are so lucky!

Do the tides affect the Levels? High tides here on the Severn means the brooks and streams start to back up. We've had a lot of rain over the last few days.

@flowerfairyann the tides do affect the Levels as the River Parrett is a tidal river which flows very slowly so doesn't clear rainwater very fast and high tides do cause big problems. The water levels are managed quite carefully by opening sluices etc and letting water overflow onto certain areas of the wetlands to prevent flooding in towns and villages. There has been an enormous amount of work over the last few years to prevent the devastating floods of 2014 in this area .... they seem to have been effective so far!
