Arum maculatum by julienne1

Arum maculatum

This plant has lots of different common names. I think most people know it by the name "Lords-and-ladies" or "cuckoo pint". There are many gender related names like "cows and bulls" or "Adam and Eve" because the strange flower formation looks a bit like both male and female genitalia! In some parts of the UK there is still a superstition that if a young woman touches this plant she will become pregnant!
Haven't seen one of these for ages. They were quite common when I was a child. We called them 'cuckoo pint.' Strange name!
