Somerset crane

A bit blurred but I was so pleased to see one of the elusive Somerset cranes on my walk this morning
...you were very lucky, but in the right place, at the right time

does it have leg bands - does that mean it is owned, or is this some kind of tracking?

@koalagardens There is a local Crane Project who reintroduced them to Somerset a few years ago. In the east of the UK some Cranes reintroduced themselves in the 1970's which encouraged the project to try to boost the UK population by hand-rearing some chicks and releasing them here in 2010. Now these birds are mature and have started breeding in the wild which is great. The leg bands help to identify and monitor their movements.
