Usually the first orchid of the year. It has lots of nicknames such as "Adder's Meat" "Bloody Butchers" and "Keglegs" which all seem a bit unromantic for such a pretty little wildflower. It's also sometimes known as the "Cross Flower" because legend says that it grew under the cross and the spots on the leaves were supposedly splashes of Christ's blood
