St Mark's Fly by julienne1

St Mark's Fly

Today is St Mark's day and, appropriately, there were hundreds of these flies hovering in the air or feeding on nectar from the wayside flowers. They are important pollinators at this time of year and their very large numbers ensure they do a good job! In a short while they will all disappear until next year.
Super shot, they are so very cute, lovely little insects

Thanks for sharing this Julienne. I must admit I do not know much about different types of fly. These sound like good guys!
