This is a close up of the Pohutukawa flower ( New Zealand Christmas Tree) from my photo yesterday of the big tree.. this one is just unfurling, they have lovely silver fury buds and these red stamens unfold and just cover the tree as I said yesterday the bee's love them..
..NB.. just looked up to see what the English translation is .. and Pohutukawa means .. Sprinkled with Spray... it is reference to the fact that this tree is usually found around our Seashore around the North Island..
