Last night I attended the opening night / Prize giving of the Arts Festival that is held in our area each year .. I had got a phone call the day earlier to be sure to be there.. got a little excited as this year they had one less catergory and there were alot more entries than there had been last year.. I was wrapped when I got called to the stage to receive my prize for 2nd place in the open catergory ... It was almost as exciting as the night I saw and captured this magnificent sight .. I did put up on 365 this image at the time but I have tidied it up a bit since then just cloning out some bright spots but on a whole as it was .. probably a once in a life time shot..
Pretty impressed with my fellow Camera Club members as we got 4 out of the 6 prizes.. so I can see some of the 'clubbies' may be treating themselves to some new equipment... look out next year... http://365project.org/julzmaioro/365/2017-04-22
@maureenpp Waiuku Camera Club ... we are really thriving at the moment and getting heaps new members all the time while other around us are getting less...
That is a truly incredible image Julz, how privedged you were to be able to see this in real life! Was this from your place or did you go on a trip? I thought you could only see the Aurora from very northern hemisphere. Big fave & big congrats!
This shot was taken when Dianne and I were in the Sth Island.. just very lucky with the timing that it wzs happening. These are the southern lights.. aurora Australis. We have seen them from our place.. but not as good as this.. certainly a very special moment..
Huge congrats and well deserved. This is stunning. I went to Tasmania last September with the hope of capturing the Australis, but it was not meant to be. Maybe next time.
Where do you go to capture these amazing shots.
It is so dramatic with the stars and bright lights.
