@dide and I are on a bit of a 'Road Trip' this weekend to Taranaki.. and ever since I had seen photo's of this walking bridge have wanted to get a photgraph of it, but knowing how fickle the weather can be in this area thought we could be lucky if we saw a sight of Mountain at all ... earlier in the day we got glimpes of the tip of the Mt Egmont/ Taranaki .. So we decided to come back in the evening light ...
I’m sure this photo is exactly what the bridge’s architect had in mind when he designed this incredible pedestrian walkway. I saw a National Geography show on this architect and when this bridge was shown they said it was styled as a whale’s skeleton and/or a breaking wave. It is fabulous, thank you for sharing!
@louannwarren spot on Lou Ann the Tasman sea was just behind me when taking this shot .. it is a fantastic structure.. we talked to several locals and they are so proud of it.. a great asset to the area.
Mt Egmont is beautifully framed here by this unusual designed bridge. Such an iconic pointed mountain but I was nervous of it when I went for some reason. I think I expected it to erupt..we drove half way up in the evening just as it was going dusk, I was glad to get down! It is very impressive though & I liked New Plymouth & the area. We were looking at small farms for Ant & Jo a good few years ago. They were expensive ...too expensive, good rainfall etc!
