Lifeguard on duty

Another shot from my trip down to the coast yesterday .. The lifeguards do such a great job and give up their own time to look after the public on this surf beach .. Everyone seemed to be behaving themselves this time but I have seen some silly behavier.. wearing jeans, ignoring the flags and swimming in the dangerous rips...

The surf looks amazing. We have had a lot of drownings here in Australia over the last month. People who ignore the flags or swim where there are rips and warnings signs.

The lifesavers are a great boon to all of us. There's been a spate of drownings in Victoria since Christmas Eve, mostly people not born here and not familiar with beaches.
