Our roadside are a real splash of colour at the moment with Montbretia's flowering beautifully, so today I thought I had best stop and get a shot .. These one's are along fence line for about 50 metres and look spectacular...
Oh I knew the name of this flower. Are you impressed. They used to grow along the railway line when I was a child. We saw some along the roadside when we were in Coffs Harbour too.
Your roadside flowers are ones we have in our gardens Julz! The first time I came to NZ it was the flowers along the roadside & down farm races that I so much admired, how can you call this a weed? Wish I could see them as I missed last year too!
We use to have them in the garden when we were kids .. My Grandparents came from Yorkshire so they probably planted them.. I have always loved them.. I usually pick a bunch and have inside .. but they are a little rampant in the garden and do tend to take over ... so am happy to enjoy them on the roadside..
@jgpittenger Yes that is the other name for it .. I think that may be more the Northern Hemisphere name .. It likes our warm humid conditions a little too much and can be a bit rampant to have in the gardens ... but I love them on the road sides... Orange is my favourite colour... @golftragic always pick a bunch when they are flowering ... FG has even bought be a bunch ...
Well done!
